From Otaru Station, head west toward Otamoi. Walk the precious 5.5 km nature trail along the coastal scenery inside the Quasi‑National Park.
After returning to Otaru Station, start your second loop: explore the nostalgic Miyako‑dori Shopping Street, then head to the Otaru Canal in the evening.

The Shakotan Peninsula juts out into the Sea of Japan. Its inland area is lined with mountains, and the steep coastline makes development difficult. Because of this, the region’s natural environment has been well preserved, offering rare access to untouched nature despite being adjacent to Sapporo and Otaru.
Shakotan Blue, Shakotan sea urchin, unusual rock formations, countless capes—there is no shortage of scenic spots to photograph.
