The Shakotan Peninsula juts out into the Sea of Japan. Its inland area is lined with mountains, and the steep coastline makes development difficult. Because of this, the region’s natural environment has been well preserved, offering rare access to untouched nature despite being adjacent to Sapporo and Otaru.
Shakotan Blue, Shakotan sea urchin, unusual rock formations, countless capes—there is no shortage of scenic spots to photograph.
