Asahidake is known as one of the first places in Japan to see autumn colors. Stroll through the "Garden where Gods Play" while gazing over a golden carpet of foliage.
At 2,291 meters, Asahidake is the highest mountain in Hokkaido. After a scenic 190-kilometer drive from Sapporo, enjoy a hike in this “garden in the sky” near the center of Hokkaido.
Sunagawa Highway Oasis (Rest stop) [Approx. 30 min]
On the return journey, stop at Sunagawa Highway Oasis, where products from across Hokkaido come together. Brows Oasis Plaza for famous sweets, local sake, and regional specialties, or visit Soraichi Market for fresh produce and local goods from the Sorachi area. The site also features the first shop of the popular confectionery maker Kitakaro, offering exclusive items you can only find here.
With about three hours each way and roughly 400 km in total, this comfortable journey is made easy by the sightseeing bus. Don’t miss the chance to experience these seasonal views that can only be enjoyed for a short time each autumn.

- *If the Asahidake Ropeway is suspended due to strong winds at departure time, the tour will be canceled.
- *If the outbound expressway is closed, the tour will also be canceled as sufficient sightseeing time cannot be secured.

Shiragami Pond (free walking time)
This emerald-green pond, 50 meters in diameter and about 400 meters around, is named for the reflection of Mount Asahidake towering in front of it, which appears upside down on the water’s surface.
