Nanae-cho is a town, about 16km north and about a 25 minute drive from Hakodate city.
For a long time, it was known as a scenic picturesque spot. The town has much scenic beautiful nature let alone Onuma Quasi-National Park, one of the three new famous beautiful locations of Japan. The change in the color of nature in the 4 seasons in Onuma Lake and Mt. Kokagatake heals the hearts of tourists.

Shikabe-cho is about a 30 minute drive from the Hokkaido Shinkansen New Hakodate Hokuto Station.
Adjacent to the beautiful nature of Onuma Quasi-National Park and exceedingly high mountain Mt. Hokkaido Komagatake, the fishery is prosperous, facing Funka Bay of the Pacific which is abundant in seafood such as scallop, octopus, kombu, and walleye pollack. The marine product processing industries are prosperous, too and ship many processed marine products including cod roe.
In addition, it is the town of hot springs where the geyser evidences the rich quantity of water when it gushes.
