Kawayu Onsen is a prominent hot spring in Hokkaido. It has strong acidity and an aroma of sulfur (sulfur spring and acid alum spring). This gravity fed hot spring has the corrosive strength to dissolve a nail, and is abundant in water.
It warms you from the core, and has a reputation among hot spring lovers as being high quality. Be careful as the water can sting wounds and the eyes.

Mashu Station is a central point of traffic for Teshikaga sightseeing being a departure and arrival point of buses going to the Kussharo area, the Kawayu area, and the Lake Mashu area.

Wakoto Onsen is a mixed bathing outdoor hot spring on the Wakoto Peninsula that juts out into Lake Kussharo. The temperature of the water is approximately 40℃, so you can enjoy comfortable bathing.
The spring water quality is pure and is said to have beneficial effects on neuralgia, and movement disorders.
In winter, the swans which are a popular sight at Lake Kussharo come seeking out the warm water nearby making for great souvenir pictures.

Kotan Onsen is located where an Ainu Village once was (Ainu Kotan), and is a mixed open air hot spring where you can view the central island, Nakajima, of Lake Kussharo and the Bihoro Pass.
It is only a few meters to the surface of the lake. In winter, the swans which are a popular sight at Lake Kussharo come seeking out the warm water nearby making for great souvenir pictures. At night you can enjoy a star filled sky, and the hot spring water is Sodium hydrogen carbonate spring.
